Eaglecrest er ikke et typisk skiområde. Hvis du vil have liftkøer, dyr mad og hotelværelser, der koster lige så meget som en bil, så er Eaglecrest ikke noget for dig. Hvis du vil stå på ski på et bjerg med utroligt stort bjergterræn, sjove præparerede pister og normalt anstændig sne, så vil du kunne lide Eaglecrest. Instruktørerne og begynderområdet er fantastiske, men det kunne godt bruge et tæppe eller rebtræk. Eaglecrest er et uprætentiøst skiområde, der eksisterer for skiløbere og snowboardere. Det er fantastisk.

As far as terrain goes it’s the best if you really enjoy a lot of Drops and steep terrain. The ridge access to hike backcountry is ridiculously easy to get to. riding all day if you ride at a good pace you will probably be able to get 9-11 runs in. Lift lines are a lot better now that they upgraded the pass scanning system so you usually aren’t waiting long in line.

I have been skiing EC for 14 years. It has some very challenging terrain. A wonderful local relaxed vibe. Great ski instructors.
Snow conditions vary day by day but that makes you better. The crew does a great job making snow in the early season but Eaglecrest gets lots of natural snow. We will see what happens with global warming but so far more moisture seems to equal more snow.

The terrain options are amazing at Eaglecrest -- steeps, glades, cliffs, etc. Large sections of semi backcountry terrain (accessible with a short hike). Seriously, one can find untracked lines almost any day of the season.

I learned as an adult at Eaglecrest. Overall, it's rather steep for a beginner. As a blue-run graduate, I still find Eaglecrest groomed terrain challenging. It's a backcountry playground! March features tons of bluebird days - I would often find myself out on a perfect weather weekday completely alone without another person in sight. The runs are beautiful. Even the cross country course is stunning. The ski area is owned by the city and feels like it. Tons of whole families out every weekend and, alas, no beer served at the lodge (plenty of people bring their own and set up grills in the parking lot). Usually lots of fresh snow and the snowsports school staff is great. Adult learners will feel right at home and they have a brand new building this year.

Most snow in usa!!! Fresh powder every day and in the trees the pow can get you right in the face! The only bad thing is that there is no terrain park.... And the lift tickets are only $45!! if in alaska this is THE BEST place for skiing and snowboarding
Eaglecrest is steep and deep, with more terrain than any reviews or lifts reflect, because there are more mountains along the ridge just outside the gates. In addition to amazing in-bounds terrain, we have the best back country in the world. We also have Alaska Powder Descents, for those who want the big lines and the heli shred. Often, we have the deepest snow in North America. Our recreation area is family friendly year-round. And our snow-sports program is great for the beginners who aren't ready for the rest of our steep terrain. I love my home mountain! And if you want a night life, go downtown.
Oh, and snow.com, keep your updates up to date. You're way behind on our fresh snowfall and our base.

Why get up at 4am and hike for an hour and a half? After 6 years, I don't bother fielding the question. The body knows. 50 days a year, only 5 of them sucked. I finally gave up trying to convince my friends, my credibility lost in wild eyed stares and sallow skin untouched by daylight. There are probably other areas where your kids will take ski lessons from Hilary Lindh's mom, Barbara Lindh, or where the manager of the area will invite you into his office and ask what you think the management should do, or where you get invited to ride along with the head groomer to look at terrain problems or trail siting. Where the nest at the top of the mountain is open and available no charge year round. Or see if you can beat one of the Masters Nordic XC champs, the High School PE teacher, wearing sweats- no he won't tell you what his wax is- at least if he does, he is lying. You'll have to hurry to ski with any of the old 10th Mountain guys, their stars are still bright, but no one lives forever. AT means cheap lift tickets, longer hours, and a longer season. Back and Side country are where the skiing is. The mountain, the people, the base and lifts are the heart and soul of skiing, beyond the ropes, there be dragons! Disappointed?, I feel sorry for you.

I learned to start loving skiing, at Eaglecrest. My home mountain in Juneau, AK is renowned for it's steeps and snow in and out of bounds. The area mostly serves the residents of Juneau and the surrounding areas. People don't go to Eaglecrest for it's size or apres ski scene. The area, on Douglas Island is hit with ocean storms which results in massive amounts of wet snow that covers two large bowls and many runs snaking all over the mountain. Don't be offput by Eaglecrest's lift situation. The area accessed by ptarmigan is huge, especially for one lift. In addition to their number of named runs, Eaglecrest has amazing tree skiing, incredible steeps, and wide open bowls. This is all tiny however, compared to the backcountry. Eaglecrest is flanked on all sides by steep mountains that accumulate A LOT of powder that remains untouched until it snows again. Hogsback, heavenly, showboat, and the backside of Eaglecrest open up a lot of options for those that came to Alaska for the challenge.
There is however, only 3 double lifts, and 1 surface lift. So if you come from a resort skiing background, it may be surprisingly barebones. Same goes for amenities, Eaglecrest is located nearest Juneau, the capital. The nightlife in Juneau isn't really comparable to anything in CO for example, but this is Alaska, so it's never too hard to get hammered in a fun atmosphere. Lastly, I know this matters to some of you, Alaska supports compassionate use.. come see why Eaglecrest is different than anything in Utah or Idaho!
