We have been skiing Holimont for several years now, and enjoy the crowdless quiet during the week. It is a great alternative to Holiday Valley, and offers similar terrain. The steeps are all really fun, and with the exception of maybe some green trails, I can't think of any hills I avoid due to being slow or boring. Even the long green run Sunset is fast and fun.
The lodge is old school, with a great family atmosphere, without music or loud kids. Plug in a crockpot and open your own bottle of wine. People are quiet and polite, but are not at all stuffy. I was completely at home on my second visit, but it is a bit different. We meet members, Canadians, and people from Ohio often on the lifts. Most people enjoy the exclusive feel, and the great hills. The people who run this resort truly love skiing, and it shows.

Open to the public on weekdays, we've been skiing at Holimont for the last 3 years with a 10-day weekday pass. There is no better value in the area. If you come on a weekday, you will not wait in a line. The conditions are always as good as possible based on the weather. Their snowmaking team does a great job and they purchased a lot of new equipment this year. There's a large variety of runs available, but they definitely lean more toward intermediate/advanced. We also love the lodge; it feels like home. This place is a gem.

I have skied here every year for the past three winters on the weekday 10 pack! The grooming is impeccable! Snow making is superb! No lines EVER! No motorized equipment allowed on the hills in the day! Everyone who skis here is polite, a good skier and stays out of your way.
(I can't speak for what happens on the weekends when the club goes private)

There's a lot to love about this place. Between skiing on weekdays and the more popular Holiday Valley nearby, you won't have to worry about lines so much. Holiday Valley offers more variety of terrain due to its nature (the bowl-shape with Mardi Gras riding a ridge) whereas Holimont is more of a single-faced mountain, so most of the trails are simply straight down making them short. However if you, like me, love glades then you'll have a great day on the slopes, as there are at least six really good and challenging glades (assuming there's enough snow) and a few good mogul runs. Did not see a lot of snow boarders, as there are very few parks and the more challenging terrain is either glades or moguls. If you're an intermediate to advanced skier looking for something different, I recommend it.

Holimont is a great resort. Their safety record is excellent because everyone that is skiing is a good skier or at least in control! Very family oriented as it is either members or guests of members each weekend. The kids love the terrain park (helmets required) and it has excellent places to stay around it!

We usually ski at Hidden Valley outside of Pittsburgh PA. We took a family trip to western New York to ski. This is a very nice resort. It has a nice variety of terrain for a small resort and is probably best suited to the intermediate skier. All the skiers around us were pretty good. We went on a Friday morning (alas, no night skiing) and the price wasn't bad (about $210 for 4 people) and the lift lines were NONEXISTENT!! Also, we were able to park only a very short walk from the lodge. You felt like you were at your own private resort (which essentially it is as it is a private club & has limited access to the public on the weekend to reservation only, but is open to all during the week). Trails were wide open & you didn't have to worry about running into other skiers. We had run after run after run!
The staff was very courteous especially to my youngest daughter (8yo) who sometimes struggles with the ski lifts and everyone was professional. The lodge was also roomy, clean, and looked realatively new.
Downsides would be no night skiing & the runs were pretty short. Also, food was pricey & quality was off although the clam chowder & black been soups were tasty. It had a few terrain parks that seemed challlenging but you needed a helmet (a good rule I think all terrain parks should follow) and since we didn't have any, we didn't try the terrain parks.
Overall, I enjoyed Holimont a lot. This was a step up for us from Hidden Valley in Pennsylvania. It is sort of the 'little sister' to Holiday Valley, the much bigger ski resort in Ellicotville NY, which is only a couple of miles away and most people don't even get over to Holimont. You should try it out!
I've been skiing at HoliMont since I was a little kid. It's where I learned to ski and I try to go back at least once a year. The atmosphere is wonderful and the lines are never very long. This is largely due to the fact that it's a private resort. They're open to the public on weekdays but you need to know a member to go on a weekend. Being a private club, it can be a little snooty, but that's a minor complaint. The terrain is nice and very well kept, but it is fairly limited in variety. The lodge is spacious and very nice and Ellicottville is a great little town with awesome nightlife.

Great Snow making. Well groomed. Not crowded. Advanced Hills are fun but like most Western New York Hills they are not long. Great Nightlife. Could use more and better out of town accommodation.
