Finland has becoming an increasingly popular destination for skiers from all over Europe over the past decade who have been attracted by a combination of factors including stunning scenery, friendly people, exciting Arctic adventure activities to try, guaranteed snow and of course, great skiing. Finland really has it all, there are over 100 ski areas to choose from and the country can even offer some of Europe’s lowest lift ticket prices, the northern lights and even Santa Claus’s secret home!
Finland has several world class resorts including Levi, Yllas and Ruka – which staged the Freestyle Ski World Championships. However many people come here to enjoy the dramatic empty landscape and try out adventure activities like dog sledding, reindeer safaris, snowmobiling of just jumping in to a frozen lake after spending some time in a traditional sauna. Most of the resorts have lots to do besides skiing including often great indoor swimming pools and unique attractions like ice hotels and traditional cultural attractions from the indigenous Sami people.
