The history of Sestriere as a ski resort, and later of the Vialattea, started in the 30's and it is now a modern tourist centre, ideal for those who love mountains and the sports linked to them. Sestriere is the epicentre of the Vialattea, featuring more than 400 km runs and 66 lifts at the disposal of the skiers as well as 900 snow guns for artificial snowmaking. There is more than 8km of cross-country ski tracks, and there are also facilities for ice-skating in the very centre of the resort. There is a wide variety of activities for tourists, who can enjoy any kind of sport, including an 18-hole golf course, at 2000 m at the Col.
